Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy Act, 2017 (Act No. 3 of 2018).

This Act, consisting of 45 sections, creates the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy. The objects of this institution, Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh are such as to make the institution as national importance. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Institute entitled to perform the following activities: promote quality and excellence in education and research in the area of hydrocarbons and energy; provide for courses and research in engineering and technology, management, sciences and arts in the area of petroleum and hydrocarbons and energy; lay down standards of admission to the Institute through an examination or any other method of testing and evaluation; manage the content, quality, design and continuous evaluation of its research programmes in a manner that earns accreditation of an international stature; promote research and development for the benefit of oil, gas and petrochemical industry and the energy sector; foster close educational and research interaction through networking with national, regional and international players in the energy sector, etc.
